Day Camp Instructor

Seasonal Work
The Day Camp Instructor will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Day Camp Program as well as ensure the Day Camp Program is run in a professional manner.
Core Responsibilities:
- Execute daily program plans for each day of camp
- Complete daily and weekly forms and required paperwork
- Maintain good communication with parents of camp registrants
- Ensure the safety of campers at all times
- Practice and memorize all safety and rescue procedures
- Respond to emergency situations as required (i.e. first aid treatment)
- Ensure required supplies are on site
- Mentor Leader in Training (LIT) Volunteers
- Ensure the Township of Wellington North Day Camp Policy and Procedure Manual is adhered to at all times
- Maintain a clean and neat program site (indoors and outdoors)
- Perform daily clean-up duties at Day Camp program locations
- Wear proper Township of Wellington North uniforms while on duty
- Be a positive representative of the Township of Wellington North
- Work and act in a way that will not cause personal injury or harm to anyone else
- Actively participate and engage in a variety of small and large group activities each week which may include crafts, nature walks, songs, games, opening and closing ceremonies, swimming, etc.
- Complete the Township of Wellington North’s Health and Safety training for new and young workers including but not limited to safety awareness training, work refusal and WHMIS
- Familiarization with all contents of the Health and Safety Bulletin Board
- Participate in ongoing staff training sessions
- Ensure work site is maintained in a clean and safe manner
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Previous experience working with children in a supervised group setting
- Standard First Aid & CPR B or C
- HIGH FIVE certification with training in Principles of Healthy Child Development
- Camps on TRACKS training is an asset
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
