The Town of Minto would like to hire 2 students to serve in the capacity of a Coordinator, Youth Recreation and Leisure Programs. They will be responsible for assisting in the development of Youth Recreation and Leisure Programs. It is the responsibility of the coordinator to assist in the development and promotion of programs with a focus on inclusion and acceptance of all youth. It is imperative that the successful applicants can create and maintain professional relationships with youth participants, local groups and agencies to ensure satisfaction from all parties involved. Some of these programs can be done virtually and also includes revitalizing the Minto Youth Action Council (MYAC). MYAC has not met for some time and resuming the group would be a priority for the coordinator. In-person programming will almost exclusively take place at the new Youth Hub facility in Palmerston. A building near the local high school is being transformed into a space (designed by youth) for youth to drop-in and also access professional wellness services. The Coordinator, Youth Recreation and Leisure Programs will participate in the development, coordination, supervision, implementation, scheduling, and marketing of all programs offered. The programs that will be developed will be offered to youth ages 12-26. The coordinator will work with a variety of community members and will need to posses strong written and oral communication skills. Another task of the Coordinator is to connect with local youth to gather information on types of recreation and leisure programs requested.
